Two lists, the same 222 companies, two different answers
This is the page the rest of the site exists to support. On the left, the twenty most reviewed roofing contractors in greater St. Louis. On the right, the twenty highest rated, restricted to companies holding at least one hundred reviews so the average means something. Same file, same morning, same 222 companies. Twelve names occur in both. Eight occur in only one.

The twelve that survive both sorts
Brody Allen Exteriors, Conner Roofing, LLC, Donovan Roofing & Construction, FM Roofing, Gallagher Bros Construction, Gateway General Contractors Roofing, Guaranteed Roofing & Contracting, Hulsey Roofing, Prrotect Roofing, Shamrock Roofing and Construction, Stonebridge Roofing, Tesson Roofing & Exteriors LLC.
These are the companies that are both loud and well regarded. That is a genuinely useful thing to know, and it is the closest thing to a defensible shortlist that public data alone can produce in this market. It is also only twelve names out of 222, which should tell you how much of this market is invisible to a ranking rather than absent from it.
The eight that only the volume list found
Each of these has enough reviews to sit in the loudest twenty listings in the metro, and a star average that keeps it out of the rating list entirely.
- Midtown Home ImprovementsWentzville. 1,834 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.2 stars, which places it around the 11 per cent mark of the file on rating.
- Cardinal Contractors (Roofing)St Peters. 662 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.8 stars, which places it around the 39 per cent mark of the file on rating.
- Bone Dry RoofingSt Peters. 645 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.8 stars, which places it around the 39 per cent mark of the file on rating. Its own About page says its headquarters is in Indianapolis and that the company has grown through merger and acquisition.
- SCHNEIDER ROOFING & REMODELINGSt Charles. 444 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.8 stars, which places it around the 39 per cent mark of the file on rating. Its own site says it is family owned and based in St. Charles, Missouri.
- AMP Restoration & RoofingChesterfield. 378 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.7 stars, which places it around the 29 per cent mark of the file on rating.
- Frederic Roofing CompanySt. Louis. 276 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.6 stars, which places it around the 23 per cent mark of the file on rating.
- Crown Exteriors LLCDardenne Prairie. 268 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.7 stars, which places it around the 29 per cent mark of the file on rating.
- St. Louis Roofing & ExteriorsSt. Louis. 252 reviews, which is enough to put it in the volume top twenty, at 4.8 stars, which places it around the 39 per cent mark of the file on rating.
Being on this side of the split is not an accusation. Two of the most common ways to land here are completely benign: a company can be old enough that its average carries a decade of complaints it has long since fixed, or large enough that it does a volume of work no small shop attempts, and volume of work produces volume of complaint. Google does not date-weight anything. A one star review left in 2019 counts exactly as much as a five star review left last week.
What it does mean is that if you found one of these companies through a page headed with the word best, you were handed a name that a different and equally defensible sort would not have handed you.
The eight that only the rating list found
Each of these clears the hundred review floor and rates at the very top, while sitting outside the twenty loudest listings.
- Best Quality, LLCNo address published. 5 stars across 226 reviews. Clears the evidence floor comfortably, but sits outside the twenty loudest listings in the metro.

This is the more interesting half. These are companies with enough public feedback to be trustworthy and not enough marketing spend to be famous. They are precisely the names that fall off every page in this market that sorts on volume alone, which is most of them, because volume is the easier number to scrape and the one that produces a more impressive looking table.
Which is why this site also states criteria and names one
Two defensible sorts of one file produce two different shortlists on the same morning. That is not a flaw in either sort. It is the sorts telling you, honestly, that neither of them is answering the question the homeowner brought. Volume answers how much has been said about a company. Rating answers how warm it was. Neither answers whether this company will replace the flashing at your chimney rather than reuse it, or where the water goes once it has left the gutter.
There is also a third column, and neither of these tables carries it. Whether the company quoting you is a local owner-led shop or one office of a national network is a fact a homeowner can read before anybody climbs a ladder, and it is published, but it is published by the companies rather than by Google. Best Choice Roofing, Bone Dry Roofing, Storm Guard, John Beal Roofing and Schneider Roofing and Remodeling all answer it themselves, in their own sentences, and those sentences are set out on the front sheet next to what the number one entry publishes about itself: owner led, greater St. Louis only, same-day installs, and a service list that stops at roofing, gutters and downspouts.
So the two ranking sheets on this site do one more thing after they have finished sorting. They print five criteria, in the open, and they put at number one the company that meets all five: scope discipline, water handled end to end, owner led, a stated shingle line, licensed and insured. That entry is an editorial pick, it is labelled as one on the page, and this site is compensated when a reader asks that company for a quote, which is disclosed in the strip under the masthead and again at the foot of every sheet. The companies below it carry a short label each rather than a criteria score. The two tables at the top of this sheet are untouched by any of that. They are Google's data, sorted two ways, exactly as Google published it on 23 August 2026.
What to actually do with this
Take the twelve from the overlap and the eight from the rating side. That is a pool of twenty companies with public Google evidence behind them. Then throw away nineteen of the twenty selection criteria you were about to use and keep one: get three of them to stand on your roof and write down what they see.
The rest of this worksheet is about how to tell those three apart, because from this point on the public data has nothing left to contribute. Nine sheets follow. The first two explain why each of these two lists is weaker than it looks.

Want Keys Roofing on your roof?
Every argument on this site is that a list cannot tell you whether a crew is any good, and that you have to get somebody on the roof and read what they write down. Keys Roofing is the company this site puts at number one on both of its rankings, and it holds that position on the five criteria printed in the How we rate box rather than on anything Google publishes about it.
What an inspection here produces is a set of photographs, a measurement of the roof, and a written scope that names the material, the underlayment, the flashing work, the ventilation and what happens if the decking underneath turns out to be soft. You keep that document whether or not you hire anyone. If a storm claim is part of your story, the claim stays in your name: under RSMo 407.725 a Missouri roofing contractor may not represent or negotiate it for you, and Keys does not.
Roofing, gutters and downspouts across greater St. Louis. No siding, no windows, no commercial work.
This reaches Keys Roofing, the number one entry on both rankings. It does not reach any of the other companies named on this site, and nothing you type here is passed to them.
